Book #1 from the series: The Dragon and the Nightingale

The Dragon and the Nightingale

Volume One

About

Mara has lived what seems a thousand different lives, none of them kind. Forced to live within the shadows of men who would seek to use her power for their own selfish gains, the Siren had nearly forgotten she had a voice of her own–a bird unfamiliar with the tune of her own song. What happens, however, when our little songbird finds herself suddenly staring at an open cage? Will she learn to use her wings once more? Does she even want to?

The Dragon and the Nightingale follows a young woman as she attempts to reclaim both her power and her autonomy, learning that sometimes, in order to heal yourself, you have to first become more monstrous than those who broke you in the first place.

Praise for this book

So I haven’t really read much fantasy fiction before, but I have to say this book was wonderful. I follow the author on TikTok and felt compelled to read this after seeing snippets posted on her account. I’m SO grateful I did. The way Mara and all other characters in this book made me feel like I was reading about myself, friends, and family, deeply touched me. I’ve very excited for volume 2 and will definitely recommend this book for my next pick for book club. Congratulations and thank you to Miranda for pouring so much of her heart into this.

This is a beautifully written and emotionally resonant. Mara’s journey is powerful, raw, and so well done. The pacing gives space for real character growth and emotional depth. The prose is lyrical without feeling too flowery, and the story hits on themes of trauma, healing, and self-empowerment in a really thoughtful way. If you love fantasy that’s character-driven with heart and purpose, I highly recommend this one. Looking forward to the next volume!
